UNMATCHED experience and a proud commitment to supporting Cairns is what drives the team at Peters Bosel Lawyers.
From their involvement in the local community to the staff they hire, experienced firm partners Mark Peters and Julie Bosel know that providing quality, strategic and professional legal advice is just part of the service they provide.

And now Peters Bosel is continuing that local tradition with the addition of commercial litigation and employment law solicitor Madonna Galeano.
“The opportunity to work exclusively in employment law and workplace relations was very attractive,” she says.

“I really enjoy the challenges of the work and I’m very lucky to be working with Mark and Julie, who are the most experienced in town.”

A born and bred Cairns girl, Madonna has a stellar track record in a wide range of disputes including award entitlements, show cause processes, unfair dismissal applications and defending Fair Work prosecutions.

The promising lawyer says she loves working in her home city, helping clients achieve the legal outcome which best suits their individual needs.

“It’s very rewarding because you’re helping people build their businesses by drafting workplace policies and assisting employers to navigate day-to-day workplace issues to maximise productivity,” she says.

“I really see employment law as an area of growth and the way in which employment will be undertaken in the future will be different. I’m really looking forward to working through those challenges as they arise and Peters Bosel Lawyers is the perfect place to do that.”

The firm has the most experienced team of employment law and workplace relations lawyers outside of south-east Queensland, providing their clients with first rate advice on areas such as executive contracts, terminations, subcontracts, enterprise agreements, restructures and redundancies, discrimination, workplace investigations and much more.

“We have a great depth of experience, we know the law in the area very well and that’s what sets us apart,” Julie says.

“We also have a very firm grasp of local issues, the dynamics of how this city operates and what’s important in doing business in Cairns.”

Both Mark and Julie are full of praise for their new recruit Madonna, seeing a locally grown product as an absolute asset to Peters Bosel’s local focus.

“We’re thrilled to have her,” Mark says.

“She already had a reputation as a young lawyer in town who is very good at commercial litigation and employment law.”

After joining forces with Julie in 2011 to create Peters Bosel Lawyers, Mark says the firm has been on a rapid growth trajectory as local businesses seek advice in the ever-changing field of workplace relations and employment law.

“We have top people that can match any competitor in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne and we’re right on the doorstep for local clients,” he says.

“Cairns has been through a very difficult time financially, right from the time we set up in 2011. But we’ve grown well through the period since then. Seeing where Cairns is now heading, I think we’re all feeling really buoyant about the future.”

With three lawyers, two support staff and a business manager, the firm is set to grow even more as their client base expands.

“We work with a number of established, high-profile local businesses and entities that demonstrate we have a commitment to the local region,” Julie says.

The firm also plays an active role in the Cairns community, proud of its buy local policy and regularly gives pro bono legal advice to a range of local not-for-profit organisations and charities.

“We are very focused on using local services for anything, whether it be design and fit-outs for buildings, computer services, stationery supplies, printing or equipment. And local businesses are really supportive of us,” Mark says.

“There’s definitely a bright future for Cairns and we are excited about our firm’s future with the addition of a top young lawyer like Madonna to our team,” concludes Julie.
