Solving the property puzzle
Northern Property Valuers
STRONG local ties and an unmatched industry pedigree has Northern Property Valuers excited about their future.
With a total of 12 staff spread over four offices in Cairns, Mareeba, Papua New Guinea and the Sunshine Coast, Northern Property Valuers have a strong presence in regional Queensland, built on more than 30 years of knowledge and experience.
Since taking over the business five years ago from veteran valuer Max Dickenson, managing director Trevor Gard has gone from strength to strength, together with colleague Bruce Coates, who has part ownership of Northern Property Valuers’ offices in Mareeba, Papua New Guinea and the Sunshine Coast.
“We’ve doubled our turnover from five years ago,” Trevor says.
“We have a lot of drive and determination in what we do. We relate to a lot of small businesses in the area because we are one.
“We’ve been ranked very highly amongst the major banks but we also look after smaller financial institutions such as credit unions and building societies.”
Rural, commercial and residential property valuations can all be performed by the firm, which has now added yet another string to its bow of expertise.
The business recently became Cairns’ first licensed Buyer’s Agency. Our clientele range from small commercial investors to large international companies, all looking for a property that suits their particular needs.
“We’re physically out on the ground looking for properties for these investors,” Trevor says.
“Through our local knowledge, and using our extensive database of properties throughout the region, we provide a professional and thorough service.”
It’s an area which Trevor knows has solid growth potential, as the business continues to diversify in a time of increasing competition.
“We’re now a complete, professional property firm, not just a valuation firm,” he says.
“Mal Floyd has joined our agency in Cairns. With his 30 years of experience in real estate, he has become a real asset to our business. Through our database and his network, we’re able to find the right property for our various clients.”
With a long family history in Far North Queensland dating back to his grandfather on his mother’s side, who owned a real estate business in Cairns in the early 1900’s, and his grandfather on his father’s side owning a cane farm in Ingham, Trevor believes he has been guided towards his current position running Northern Property Valuers. He loves nothing more than getting out on the open road to meet his diverse array of clients.
“I’m not stuck in an office. I love the Far North and it gives me an opportunity to travel along many of the region’s backroads. There’s some truly glorious hidden places!” he says.
