POSITIVE AGEING FAIR KICKS OFF CAIRNS REGIONAL COUNCIL SENIORS WEEK ACTIVITIES

The popular Cairns Regional Council Positive Ageing Fair returns to Cannon Park, Woree on Friday 18 August from 10:00am to 2:00pm
The FREE event kicks off Seniors Week festivities that run from Friday 18 – 27 August and provides the opportunity for older Cairns residents to enjoy and explore programs and services, events and activities, connect with people of all ages and backgrounds, to celebrate the many contributions older people make in our community.
The Positive Ageing Fair is part of Cairns Regional Council’s commitment to celebrating our community’s young-at-heart and is great social occasion that includes over 50 stall holders that highlight the many services, activities and organisations that positively support senior residents in Cairns.
With a focus on being active there’ll be ageing fitness classes including opportunities to enjoy Petanque, Yoga, Pilates and hula-hoop workshops.
Other highlights include bush poetry, cultural displays, gardening advice, and help on making the most out of concessions for travel and holidays.
Community organisations will provide free advice on education and training options, care assistance, legal services through to respite and support assistance.
The Cairns Regional Council Positive Ageing Fair is a free event for seniors and carers and offers friendly access for wheelchairs and walkers. There is loads of free parking with buses for large groups welcome.
